Trump Demands CBS Shutdown Over Harris Interview Controversy

Former President Donald Trump has called for CBS to be shut down after the network released the full, unedited version of a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. The controversy began in October when Trump and his supporters accused CBS of editing the interview to favor Harris.

They demanded the release of the complete footage, which CBS eventually provided following a lawsuit and an FCC complaint. Despite the release, Trump and his allies remain dissatisfied, labeling the situation a major scandal. On Truth Social, Trump accused CBS of manipulating the content by removing unfavorable responses from Harris and replacing them with more polished answers.

He even claimed this alleged editing swayed the election in Harris’ favor, despite losing to him in November 2024. Trump insists CBS should lose its broadcasting license and that the individuals involved should face consequences.

However, the FCC cannot revoke CBS’ license since networks do not hold individual broadcast licenses.

Trump also tied this issue to broader claims about federal funding influencing media outlets, though these allegations lack evidence. CBS maintains that the edits were made solely for time and were not deceptive. As tensions rise, Trump’s FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, may pursue action against the network.
