After Patriotic Dad Gets Convicted – Red State Governor Swoops in to Save the Day

What’s Happening:

A dad standing up for his daughter who was punished for his actions received help for his situation. The school board overseeing the district where his daughter goes to school has been accused of trying to cover up the crime against his daughter.

Scott Smith was convicted of disorderly conduct in August 2021 after he erupted at school board members in Loudoun County, Virginia, over their handling of an investigation into his daughter’s attack. That outcome did not sit well with Gov. Gleen Youngkin who worked last week to correct the injustice by pardoning Smith.

From Fox News:

“I spoke with Mr. Smith on Friday, and I had the privilege of telling Mr. Smith that I will pardon him, and we did that on Friday,” Youngkin said. “We righted a wrong. He should’ve never been prosecuted here. This was a dad standing up for his daughter.”

Youngkin explained that Smith’s daughter “had been sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a school, and no one was doing anything about it” and that the superintendent has “covered it up.” The alleged assault occurred in a high school restroom by a biological male said to have been wearinga skirt.

The governor made it a point to emphasize that parents should make the final decisions over their children’s education and government agencies need to respect that right. Youngkin is also in a battle with defiant Virginia public school officials who refuse to properly enforce requirements to inform parents when their children express any gender confusion at school.

Youngkin has been on the national stage since taking office in a surprise win in a predominantly blue state. He has addressed conservative topics and fought against liberal policies that seemingly want to undermine parental rights. His conservative stance and broad popularity have vaulted him into the conversation for a 2024 presidential run.

The Virginia governor has not committed to a presidential campaign despite simmering rumors that he may still enter the Republican primary race.

Key Takeaways:

  • Virginia dad convicted for defending his daughter finds a big-time ally.
  • Alleged sexual assault spurred this father to confront the liberal school board.
  • Virginia Gov. Youngkin “righted a wrong” by wiping away the dad’s conviction.
